The hammers of your new chime movement will need to be adjusted to fit your case. This adjustment is made by bending the hammer shafts so they will line up properly with the chime rods in your case. Carefully bend the brass hammer shafts as shown at left until the hammer tips are in line with the chime rods.

DO NOT BEND THE CHIME RODS! (They will break)

The hammer tips must also be aligned the proper distance from the chime rods as viewed from the back of the clock. Shown at left, the hammer shafts should be gently bent towards the bottom of the shaft so the hammer tip is approximately 1/8" away from the rods to give a crisp tone when the rod is struck. Too close may cause the sound to buzz or give a dead tone.
